St. Sophia Cathedral is the oldest stone church on the territory of the east Slavs. Nearly 1000 years ago old it was the heart of the Old Russian state – its political, cultural and spiritual center. Kiev-Pechersk (Cave) Monastery (Lavra) – the greatest Orthodox sacred place - has been one of the most important places for all Orthodox faithful. Andreevsky Descent is a historic descent connecting Kiev’s Upper Town neighborhood and the historically commercial Podilneighborhood. It is a major tourist attraction of the city.
